Video editor
Turn a raw recording into a polished demo without leaving the app.
Product demos usually need a second app to trim, zoom, and smooth the cursor. Shotnix opens any recording into a built-in editor that handles the common cases, locally, and exports a single MP4.
A real clip timeline
Split at the playhead, delete, ripple delete, undo and redo, and trim the selected clip with handles. The timeline has a ruler, video and audio tracks, a zoom lane, and a full-height playhead. Transport controls include frame-step, one-second jumps, Home and End, and J/K/L shuttle.
Speed, audio, and effects
- Per-clip speed from 0.5x to 2x.
- Clip mute and fade-in/fade-out while preserving recorded audio tracks.
- Text labels, arrows, highlights, and redaction boxes exported as callout layers.
- Auto zoom presets and smooth cursor interpolation.
Cursor polish
Adjust cursor size, add a click spotlight that dims the frame around each click, and enable an optional motion-blur trail on fast moves. Cursor and click ripples stay in sync with the video.
Frame and export
Choose frame presets and backgrounds, then export. Every cut, speed change, audio edit, cursor effect, and zoom is stitched into one MP4. Preview audio matches the export, and export reports audio problems instead of silently dropping tracks.

Questions
Is there a watermark on exports?
No. Exports are clean MP4 files. Shotnix is free and MIT licensed.
Can I edit a video I recorded with something else?
Yes. The Command Center can open a video file from disk, not only Shotnix recordings.
How does this compare to Screen Studio?
Screen Studio is a paid, dedicated demo tool with a deeper motion-design feature set. Shotnix covers the common demo workflow (trim, speed, zoom, cursor effects, callouts, backgrounds) for free, inside the same app you capture with.
Does the editor run locally?
Yes. Editing and export happen on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded.
