Which one should you pick?
Choose Shotnix if
- You take screenshots or recordings more than a few times a week.
- You need scrolling capture, OCR, blur, or pinning.
- You record with system audio.
- You want to find old screenshots by their content.
Choose macOS Screenshot if
- You take an occasional screenshot and Markup is enough.
- Company policy blocks third-party apps.
- You're on macOS 27 and a quick recording with system audio, saved as MOV, is all you need.

Questions
Does Shotnix replace the macOS shortcuts?
Optionally. On first launch Shotnix offers to take over ⌘⇧3, ⌘⇧4, and ⌘⇧5. You can decline, and a Restore Apple Shortcuts button in Preferences puts them back at any time.
Can I keep both?
Yes. Leave Apple's shortcuts alone and give Shotnix different ones in Settings → Shortcuts.
Why does Shotnix need Screen Recording permission when the built-in tool does not?
Every third-party capture app needs it; Apple's own tool is exempt. Shotnix uses the permission only to capture what you ask for, locally.
Which Macs does Shotnix run on?
Apple silicon Macs (M1 or later) with macOS 13 or later. Intel Macs are not supported by the official download; the source can be built locally.
