QR and barcode capture
Scan a QR code on your screen without reaching for your phone.
A QR code in a slide deck, a screen share, or a web page usually means grabbing your phone. Shotnix decodes it from a screen selection and shows the payload with the right action.
Supported codes
QR codes plus Code 128, EAN, UPC, Aztec, Data Matrix, PDF417, and more. Shotnix names the detected type so you know what you scanned.
Smart payloads
Links, email addresses, phone numbers, SMS, Wi-Fi credentials, and plain text are recognized and shown with friendly fields and explicit actions, such as open, copy, or compose.
On-device
Decoding uses Apple's Vision framework locally. The image and the payload never leave your Mac.
How to do it in Shotnix
- Choose Scan QR from the Tools sectionIn the menu bar Command Center. You can assign it a shortcut in Preferences.
- Select the area containing the codeDraw a selection around the QR code or barcode.
- Act on the resultOpen the link, copy the text, or use the recognized fields.
Questions
Can it read barcodes, not just QR codes?
Yes. Code 128, EAN, UPC, Aztec, Data Matrix, PDF417, and other symbologies supported by Apple's Vision framework.
Does it need a camera?
No. It reads codes from your screen, which is the point: no phone, no webcam, no holding a laptop up to a monitor.
Is the payload sent anywhere?
No. Decoding is on-device and Shotnix has no server.
